Lift 250 for winging?

Anybody winging with a Lift foil setup? Any success with the 250 (HA or surf) wing? Seems like its on the lower end of the range for recommended area, but interested to hear if anybody has had success with this.

I have been using the Lift 250HA with a 50 tail fin and 32" mast on a 6'2", 115 l. board, smaller 77 l. board coming soon. This is the set-up I learned with and am continuing on with. I considered the 250 Surf but went with the 250HA to allow for more glide when I became more accomplished. I may swap in the 34 tail fin to liven up the performance once I get more accomplished.

For reference I am 185 lbs. I came from a Kite Foiling background so was well familiar with foiling. My go to was the Lift 200 Classic modified to accept the 34 tail, using the smallest kite I can keep in the air.

The 250HA is not as high aspect as the 170HA or 200HA. More mid aspect really. It may have made my initial learning a little more difficult but I don't think it held me back that much. The 250HA is 1,600+ cm2 so is not really a small foil by current wing foil standards. I can get riding in 10 knots plus with a Swing 6m. Some of my more accomplished (lighter?) riding buddies are riding Moses 800 and 1000 front wings dependingon the conditions.

The 250HA is not as high aspect as the 170HA or 200HA. More mid aspect really....

Because of funny Lift decision to make all of their HA wings 32” wingspan instead of scaling them.

A buddy took 250HA with 40 stabilizer to Baja to wing on and got praised for his choice by other wingers

I have been riding the Lift 250 HA with the 40 tail for both winging and prone surfing. Freaking love it! I will focus on winging. Using a 5-1 105 liter board. I weigh 200 lbs. Compared to the Armstrong 1850 it has more glide and speed. Faster and more sporty. Armstrong may have a bit more low end. But does not glide like the 250.

I just got my lift 250HA delivered here in the Virgin Islands. I’ll be using it with a 5m Ozone Wasp and an 85L inflatable board. I’ve been winging on a Lift 200 classic and am hoping to get some more low end and better glide in small waves out of the 250. I weigh about 80kg. I’ll let you know how I like the 250 once I get some time on it.

After a few days on it, I'm pretty happy with the 250HA. Mine is paired with the 40 surf stabilizer. It is a glidy and easy-to-pump setup, but despite the large area, I don't think it's a particularly easy setup. Maybe it's the stabilizer, but it's less pitch stable than, for instance, the Lift 200 classic wing. It's a fun wing to ride but I'm not sure I'd recommend it as a beginner setup.

I ordered a 250 HA wing last week and will be riding it with the 50 stabilizer. Hopefully that tames things down a bit. I will report back when I get it onto the water.

Your review makes me slightly nervous, but I guess Im glad I grabbed it when I could since it got discontinued today!

Any update on the 250HA? I want to use a lift foil for my winging setup and trying to decide between 250HA and 250 surfV2. Not sure how much of a difference there is between the two given the surfV2 is more medium aspect anyway.

Unfortunately won't be able to take this setup out for a spin for a bit, so no feedback at the moment.

As a correction to one of the previous notes in this thread, Lift did NOT discontinue the 250 HA. It is still available and unchanged from last year, but the price is higher. Also, someone referenced 32" wingspan, which is incorrect. I can't speak to the other wings, but the 250 is a 37" wing.

Black swan- You can’t tell any difference between the 250 HA and the new Surf 250 V2. I actually compared the two today at our local shop. This is why they discontinued the 250HA I assume. I now have a lot of time on the HA 250 and HA 200 and am riding both with a 40 tail. Really love both. The 250 has more low end. The 200 is faster and more glide efficient. I use the 250 in lighter winds when winging and when surfing use it in smaller surf. Freaking love these wings. Took my pump game to another level. As an aside, I do agree that the wings are not for beginners. They are quirky and take time to dial in. But once you figure it out, look out!
