Slingwing 6.4 vs Takoon 6m

Postby borist » Mon Feb 15, 2021 8:02 am

Anyone tried both wings? I'm interested in low end/pumping performance. I already own Slingwing 6.4 and will be ordering a 5m wing for stronger wind soon and I like Takoon. That got me thinking, perhaps I'll be better off to get both 5m and 6m from Takoon and sell my Slingwing 6.4 IF Takoon 6m offers better low end performance.
Opinions?

thnx

I have tested both. I would recommend the 6m Takoon over the 6.4 Slingwing V2. The Takoon is stiffer and really takes advantage of the apparent wind more making it easier to stay up and go upwind in light winds.

For the the 6m Takoon is my current reference light wind wing when comparing all others. The one caveat is the super thin one pump hose making deflation a pain in the ass.

thanks Gunnar! Do you think 7m is worth it for even lower end power or is is the case of diminishing return? I'm ~82 kg, 186 cm.

I own the Slingwing 6,4 and just tried the Takoon 15 min ago LANDboarding so it is a very limited comparision.
The only thing I can say is it feels very solid and stiff compared to the SW
Handels are very well positionned (the first on is important) but you have more options on the SW
I thing wingspan will be less on the SW, strut seems longer on the SW also.
Tried the Swing very briefly and didn't like the handle placement (I like having the front hand quite forward)

I am not sure the pumping would be more efficient with a stiff wing. You need to pump the SW very hard though.
