wing foiling with 633 onda?

Postby kriskris » Sat May 08, 2021 12:16 am

I have not tried wing foiling yet but just started thinking about it. I am a decent kite foiler and ride Moses Onda foil 633. Has anybody ever tried riding that foil with a Wing?

Many of us. Im personally not winging but my buddies are. Its either normal wing for very light person /like 50 kg/ or high wind wing for 80 kg rider

Hi Kriskris,

Yes it works, but you are going to need a lot of wind (20 knots plus) for it to work well at 80kg. Also it works better on smaller boards, so definitely something for when you get better. That said. There are now much better (faster) small wings for winging from Moses, like the 940, 1000, 800 which have far more range and work better with winging.

I have the 950 and love it and now considering 940 or 945.
945 seems too close to 950 in the specications so thinking the 940.
Ant advice/ comments?

Thanks Guys. I am 162 lbs and very good light wind kite foiler. Assuming I would like to try winging with my 633 Onda at 20 knots what size of a wing would you recommend?

beware of sizes/brands: a 6m Takuma is more like a 7m (I mean it has more area then announced), a 5m Strike pulls like a 6m Swing (because of the profile), etc etc

Hi Kris! Yes the Slingshot 633 aka Moses Onda 633 works for wingfoiling. It's a big plus if you are not as heavy because of less pressure on the mast and you need less wind to fly.

In the long run you will probably end up with a set for kitefoiling and one for wingfoiling. :-) And in the very long run selling the kitefoil because wingfoiling is soooooo much fun! :-) :-)

This is slightly off-topic, but the high aspect wings (633 isn't HA) are so efficient that people are using foil sizes that I was shocked by. Damien LeRoy is using a Lift 120HA for winging, which I found pretty surprising. He's pretty small and obviously very talented but that's a really small wing!

Goes to show that quoting wing area without aspect ratio is pretty meaningless...
