Hi
Different boards, different positions.
Different foils, different positions too, if you ride with a supersmall stab, you will have the mast further forward, and if a big stab, it should be further rear.
Apart from different wings and relative aoa and mast position on fuselage.
Bottom line is, we all need different mast positions in the board, so in order to share, it might be helpful when purchasing a new board for your foil.
I dont use straps, of course their position can change everything - but also without straps, you want a default "perfect" trim, so you can start without the board dragging too much at the tail, sinking, and without standing so far forward that it feels wrong, like the board is too long.
You all know what I mean.
Yes, when having a beveled/tapered tail it also change things, but would still give a good indication about the position.
The shorter the board, the more important it is.
My two current boards, distance from tail to track, track length, and overall board length:
85 litre Takoon Comet SW 4'10: 22 cm to 25 cm mast track, length 147 cm.
90 litre Takoon Comet 5'4: 29.5 cm to 25 cm mast track, lenght 163 cm.
How does yours measure up in terms of track position?
Peter
