Naish Welcomes Pietro Kiaulehn to the International Wing-Surf Team

Postby Toby » Wed Aug 04, 2021 10:11 pm

The Naish International Wing-Surfing Team is stoked to introduce and welcome 16-year-old Pietro Kiaulehn to the crew. Kiaulehn grew up in the small town of Torbole, just north of Lake Garda — one of the windiest spots in all of Europe. Growing up in such a windy location, it was believed that Pietro would become a wind sport athlete at a very young age, but to everyone’s surprise, the wind didn’t interest him immediately. As a young boy, he spent his time on the beach, but Pietro never developed a passion for any wind sports in those years. Pietro’s passion was BMX racing and downhill mountain biking.

His father, Ronny Kiaulehn is a photographer who worked for many years in windsurfing research and design in the early ’90s. Ronny was constantly trying to motivate Pietro to get into the water and start windsurfing or kitesurfing, but he was never interested. It wasn’t until the summer of 2020 when Pietro suddenly decided he wanted to learn how to wing foil. Ronny was so happy his son was getting in the water that after 25 years of being off of the water, he decided to learn as well.

In September 2020, Pietro got his first wing foil set up, and he has been hooked ever since. Lake Garda is a perfect playground for wing foiling, and during the winter months, Pietro travels to Fuerteventura to seek the ultimate training conditions.

Becoming a part of the Naish International Team only one year after his first wing-surf session is a dream come true for Pietro and a sign of a true athlete.

We can’t wait to see what the future holds for Pietro with Naish.
