Belt leashes + board to wing leash

Postby Peter_Frank » Thu Aug 05, 2021 4:28 pm

Hi - regarding belt leashes, unfortunately most are made for SUP so no connection point at the front for the wing leash.

How many got this?

I know Takoon (got one myself, but if you are smaller than medium it is a bit long, but works very well): https://takoon.com/products/leash-ceinture?lang=en

From another thread there is this North - but difficult to see if both rear and front attachment points?
But I assume there is according to the text, but when sliding? It must not slide when you ride, can anyone confirm how it works: https://www.nykitecenter.com/products/2 ... aist-leash

That was two options, other ones?

Yes, one could make a hole in the front of a SUP belt, I know, but we got this forum so would be nice to share what exist of good solutions :thumb:

I use a belt leash with connection point in the back and slide the belt through the wrist attachment from the wing leash.

Do you use a coil leash?
Does that work well?

I use a line or bungee line.

Only concern is when you get it around your neck

Still working with best wing attachment point, but till now using the default at the front tube.
With a coil one could think it would be better a bit closer, meaning further rear?

Hey Peter,

The North belt has 2 identical attachment points that you can position wherever you like on the belt. Essentially webbing loops which don't slide when in use, as the outer surface of the belt is slightly grippy and stops them moving when pulled at an angle.

Hope that helps:)

NSI has a wing leash with two tethers on it.

I use that wing leash and its nothing groundbreaking but it serves its purpose. Im starting to rethink the waist leash for the wing though and might go back to the wrist. I just feel like I have gotten wrapped up in the leash too many times and it can be distracting.

From what I have seen, the issue with a lot of the waist leashes on the market is that they are intended for applications without any significant load. As such, the buckles / velcro / etc... are not intended for a winging application where a false release could be critical.

I got an aliexpress tactical belt. But although it's very rugged, I rent back to the ankle leash. May change again in the future.

Isn't that a normal belt without attachment points?

Or is it so rugged that you use your velcro leashes back and front, and they don't slide?

But it cost almost nothing, so one could make holes for attachments, true :D

After experimenting with wing leash to belt I have gone back to a wrist leash, too many tangles. I’m now using dyneema instead of the urethane leashes normally supplied which can break without warning. They are about 4 ft long so you don’t tend to kneel on them when getting up.
I use the Balin coil waist leash for the board.

What About wing leash direct to board?

I know some have been using it, but never heard any feedback.

Sounds great to get rid of one leash :thumb:

I cheaped out and took the cinch strap that comes with a new kite and put that around my waist with an old piece of kite line.
