Yep,there is a lot more to wings than surface area.
My Starboard Freewing V1 has incredible low end, it is my goto wing from solid 14kt up to 25kt/30gusts.
It handles wonderfully with one exception, it is really awful to tack.Start a tack in 18kt or so and it literally tries to rip your front arm backwards, flaps like crazy and you loose all speed.
The Takoons are flatter, tighter canopies, and they do not have that super low end grunt but they tack buttery smooth,go upwind better. Both are good but so different.
The OR looks to be a very flat, tight design.Maybe the Dlab Unit has a more curvy, low end oriented shape?

Wow, that's fast! I don't follow racing, but I imagine that's up there. I think I've come close to that on kitefoil, but that seems less scary, kite helps get you away from the foil on a wipeout.
Today I was out briefly in 25ish kt gusts with 5m, first time feeling it's higher end and towards OP. It's a powerful wing. Though speed-wise I was probably going 10-15kt LOL
I have added a 3m HL series to the quiver, but haven't used it yet. Didn't have time today and also not windy enough between gusty periods. Soon i hope!

The Levitaz R5 Mathis rides is race kitefoil with a 515cm2 surface.Must be really challenging to get up on foil...i think there is a "practical" speed limit for every foil size/rider weight combo.Once you get the AOA too small it starts feeling really sensitive and twitchy in pitch.
On my Takuma 1210/70kg i have gotten to 18kt peak (if the GPS is not lying, not sure) and both times ended in a big splat .
One was in very flat water, the other DWinging and cutting across a groundswell with luffed wing.
Rider inability might have been a factor too

But it is not the top speed that realy matter ,my comfort speed to my last year slow feel is now away and now it feels super light and fluid this is all i want from it.
