Appletree wing foilboard 5'2''

Postby nayy » Sat Sep 11, 2021 8:38 pm

Hi all,

Unboxing from our new board:

appletree appleslice foilboard 5'2''

Will be tested asap when conditions allow it...

The board is really stiff, light and solid... we have a kitefoil board in the same construction.

I have the same board and you won’t be disappointed. The solid construction and stiffness, and scooped deck translate to a very direct and connected feel to the foil that I haven’t felt on another board. Hard to describe but when it’s on foil it rides like a lower volume board.

Only change I would make would be to eliminate the kick tail. Otherwise every aspect of the design is spot on.

Report back once you ride it and enjoy!

Had it in my early stage of wing foiling, I am 65kg and it was a perfect stable platform even in choppy waters, loved it!
Now I am riding the smaller size, 4’9 x 70 liters.

What I like:

It’s a light, stiff and strong board. Maybe not the lightest on the market but very strong => durable board
If by accident you hit the board on something you only have a minor crack that can easily be fixed.

The construction technique and materials they use give a correct balance between weight and durability.

It’s a compact shape with still a lot of volume (5’2” - 90L), this makes the board reactive. If you still want a more playful board you probably need a smaller one.
I have chosen this size because I wanted only 1 board for all conditions (my weight: 65 kg). I wing on a lake so wind is very irregular, when the wind suddenly drops I can still stand on the board and wait for the next gust to come.

The volume/weight distribution of the board is very good. You don’t have to change your foot position a lot between riding the board on the water and riding on the foil.

What I dislike:

The deck pad is too slippery when you wear boots (during winter), so you have to put wax on the pad
