Looking for recommendations for weekend kite/wing trips on the east coast. Prerequisites:
- Efficient. Thinking of weekend trips (arrive Friday night and depart Sunday afternoon) and want to get as much quality riding as possible.
- East coast
- convenient access to an airport (direct flights from major cities).
- quality wind and waves
- relatively easy / uncomplicated access
- Im not afraid of the cold, but ideally somewhere that is 50 degrees or warmer in the winter and/or fall
I will chase wind and monitor for good conditions before booking flights, so its not like it needs to be blowing all the time. Unfortunately Cape Hatteras and the surrounding areas are pretty difficult to get to, so that doesn't work. I've heard that Miami has some complicated access issues (passes, certifications, etc....), but thinking there might be some good spots in Florida that can be recommended?

You could consider Hampton Roads (coastal va). We’ve got a growing group of wingers, with plenty of kiters and windsurfers. You can fly into Newport News or Norfolk (or Richmond - hour away).
We’ve got the bay, ocean front, back bay, James river, York River, etc, so there are plenty of spots to take advantage of the wind for the day. This whole week has had great wind for example (but I’m stuck with sick kids and working).
Look up VA Is For Wingers group on Fbook if you are headed to town and ask for advice on where to ride.

Cape Hatteras is not that difficult if you fly into Norfolk Friday evening it is three hours down to Hatteras in a rental car, same back late Sunday evening for a flight west. You don't give your location, but I presume west.
