Cleanest Ice in Years - Aluula Glide too

The cracks in the ice actually show how thick the ice is so there is no need to drill holes to measure.

Since I'm on the other side of the world right now in Cape Town I turned my computer upside down and your pics made sense!

Bend she brakes, cracks she bears. Possibly true but currents etc ensure that the ice is not necessarily even. Looks great fun. Early ice will usually be the cleanest, no crack steps, no drifting snow, fewer twigs etc.

Back in the day I skated on ice before the cracking stage and it made a weird booming sound; actually less stressful than when it is just starting to crack as the sound and sight of cracking, lines of dancing ice flakes, is more off putting than the boom. That is definitely not recommended!!

Blades on a Mountain Board would be my favourite or are you just on skate or ski?

Presumably you are fully prepared to go through the ice…………..I guess local knowledge is key!

Must be something about the software of the forum that rotates the pictures because they are "right side up" on my screen. :D

The ice was doing plenty of that out there and it is freaky. With all that headgear on it's even stranger because I can't really tell what is going on for a split second. Kinda like being on the ocean and seeing a fin break the surface, momentary "what the"....?) and then realize it's only a dolphin.

pics upside down for me too
we had a rare cold spell here and we tried wing skate one afternoon, also with the OR A series.
What a gas, sure doesn't take much wing to get going, even in tiny gusts I started to feel that edge of control (realizing I am not the skater I was 20 years ago LOL).
The wing was so nice and light in hand.
