One other important variable is whether or not you can learn in a place without much wave action or chop. I need more volume in chop.

Ok. Thanks for all the feedback. I'm going with the 105 liter iboard and see how it goes. I'll post a follow up after the trip. Cheers!

Follow up:
Day 1- struggled with just staying on the board and getting to a standing position. 15 knots, 5.5 wing, 105L board on 2000 cm2 foil. Worn out after about an hour from just climbing back onto the board repeatedly
Day 2- better able to balance/stand/cruise around off foil. 15 knts, 5.5 wing
Day3- first good foil rides both ways. 16-19 knts, 5.5 wing
Day 4- riding on foil both ways with a few successful jibes on foil. 16-20 knts, 5.5 wing. I'm stoked!
Day 5- riding for 2+ hours and completing most jibes while foiling with foot switches. 15-18 kts. 5.5 wing. I feel like I got it and wouldn't mind a smaller board.

Overall, I'm glad I went with the 105 L board to start (I'm 80KG). My wife is on a slower learning curve due to less interest and will enjoy the 105L board as well. Time to keep my eyes out for a smaller board maybe...

Thanks for following. Love the wing thing as a complement to kiting.

I suggest you try a smaller and faster frontwing first..
