Hey everyone
If you're like me - like to ride overpowered sometimes, or just stay longer on the water - you may like to ride with a harness.
Now, a traditional harness with a metal hook is a no go for me, don't want to break my board because I fall onto the board, or climb onto it in rough conditions.
The following pictures show how I built a simple wing harness that is integrated with the wing leash, and attached to the board leash belt.
- Made from old kitesurfing bar pieces
- Hookless
- You can stay hooked in when jibing and pumping
- Reliable, simple and fast connection / disconnection
- Harness line = Part of the wing leash, so no additional clutter
- Cost = cost of the CREATURES LEASH FOIL WAIST belt (approx 60 USD) plus the spare parts (that I had lying around).
You see that the throw of the harness is regulated with the depower belt from my old 2012 Blade bar.
- Instead of attaching to the chicken loop, it attaches to the board leash belt via a piece of rope.
- The part that would normally be linked to the center lines ends in a large ball. This is the attachment to the wing (respectively to the rope loop at the wing.
- Regarding the loop that is attached at the strut of the wing: Make sure to place it in the center of pull, make it large enough for easy hooking/unhooking, and use a sturdy piece of rope that does not flex / wobble too much (easier to put the ball through).
And here are a few pics that show how you can fine tune the throw of the harness:

Min throw:
Medium setting:
All in all, this harness allows to attach both board leash and wing leash without clutter, and have the option to hook in whenever desired.
Hope this helps you if you sit on a few old kite pieces, and like to get a wing harness.
