235 lb @ 6" 4' 67 yrs 134 L board and my strength to weight ratio could be better .....

8 m Strike and 1250 SAB maybe can pump onto foil in 12-15 mph when gust hits.

Also have a 6.5m DLab and I think I can pump onto foil as good or better than the 8m. Lighter stiffer and smaller so easier to pump.

Need a few more secsions to tell.
76kg, I have Duotone 4 and 5.5 Dlabs best I've ever had and I've had a few. The Dlabs are way less fatiguing as an added bonus plus my last quiver was 4 windwings now only need 2 to cover the same wind range.

I’m within my first 50 sessions on a wingfoil.
Session 10 was a breakthrough when I certainly stayed upwind and did do you big jibes majority of time.
Session 12 was a switch to a -10 sinker and I cursed quite a bit but then flew just fine. Never going back to a + board
Session 20 was on brand new 2200 cm² wing and longer, 90cm mast and I loved that I can ride in pre-whitecaps conditions.

Large wings are fun for lightwind. I’m taking the 1400 cm² wing for whitecaps and up
Is that a 4'6 Slingshot?

(...). When the wind is light I put up a kite. When the wind is strong I put up the wing (I'd say the line is drawn at 12-13mph winds).

When I first started winging it was a blast in in the 12mph range, but now it is just boring, compared to putting up the kite.
(...)
I get that, but it's all based on the principle that you can wing or kite on that spot, on that day. Many times when I wing, kiting is not an option. Either due to sketchy launch, extremely gusty winds, etc... Sometimes kiting could be considered but with such a large probability of things going pear shaped, that you decide against it. And I'd rather go wing foiling than not go at all...

I'm currently faced with the summer restrictions that plague the south of France, where I couldn't realistically travel with a ~100L wing board, so I packed my kiting gear, and while kitefoiling is perfectly suited to the conditions out there, if I want to ride, I have to take the car, drive a bit, find a park in a very busy place (an act of faith), setup in the small designated area, use the designated channel that takes me out to the 300m from the shore area where I can happily ride (with 50 other riders), and hope that the car and its content are still there in the end. With a wing, I'd setup across the road, grovel out of the swimmer's area, and enjoy the ride, without the police batting an eyelid. Probably it'd feel not as fast or not as nice as kiting, but without all the extra hassles removed, that fallback option would still have plenty of appeal.

Aside from that, I'm in the same frame of mind as yours that I would most likely pick the kiting option if both are equally available.
Makes perfect sense to me! Everything is a compromise! While I take back my comment that winging in light winds is boring - I should re-state it by saying: sitting on the couch is boring, so being out doing anything outside is more fun! Do whatever it takes to get you out there!

Maybe winging in lightwinds is boring in flat water with no waves and you are already an expert at all the tricks AND you have otherwise good kitefoil conditions....otherwise it's pretty fun! Even a 1 foot lake wave is fun with a wing. I'm an expert kite-foiler but now I basically just wing foil.

Additionally the flexibility a wing provides in launch sites and safety to swimmers is a huge bonus opening up vast areas that would be catastrophic to drop a kite.

After a few back to back sessions with just me (75kg) vs me and the kid (95kg), I’m acutely aware how hard it is to get going in lighter winds with more weight. The additional board speed needed to sustain foil flight due to higher wing loading is quite noticeable. Yikes.
