Some say if it does both it doesnt do anyone well enough.

I believe it's true. I prefer dedicated boards for winging or kitefoiling and so on.

I got started in a Starboard Hypernut 4 in 1 before wingfoil boards were invented. It is more than possible to learn the basics on it and also doubles as a SUP. You also could windfoil or windSUP (non-planning windsurf)
on it. I still use it as a SUP, and it's perfect for families to have fun wathever the conditions.
After the learning stage, you will realise that there is too much board in front of you, which is helpul at first, then is just bothering. Once reached that stage, you will buy your first true wingboard, like I did.
