That might be one for the Darwin award when the hydrofoil gets tangled in the bungee and cuts it.

There was no hydrofoil, just a guy on a wing and bungie and a helper.

Looks like a perfectly good and safe way to test out a theory. It was flying quite nicely until he got to the end of the bungie. The glide angle doesn't look too bad, maybe comparable to early paragliders (3:1 maybe less)

I'd like to see someone do a balloon jump with a wing .... and a parachute. I'm guessing the glide would improve with a bit more airspeed.

Balloon jump?
Have seen this, or similar. Cant find video now.
Glide was not good.
High airspeed made wing unstable, poor control and high Gs ripped wing out of hands, popped chute and survived.
I doubt many would try this stunt twice.

It's been done, there is a video of it. Wing flew fine for a while but then went in to a death spiral very nearly killing the guy.

How did it nearly kill anybody? Just let go and then open the parachute. Do it from plenty of altitude.

You guys do know that people do paragliding safety courses (known as SIV) where you get yourself into all sorts of ugly situations over water and learn how to handle them? Being twisted in a locked in spiral is not nice, but it's recoverable. I did it. All that is irrelevant.

You also know that skydivers often jump out of planes riding all sorts of inflatable pool toys? Not to mention riding "each other" if you know what I mean? :allbegood: :remybussi: :naughty: :naughty: :naughty: :naughty: :thumb: They all survived.
