And also it's even more annoying to state rider weight in lbs. When using sensible metric units, as most of the world does, it is trivial to compare the weight of a rider with the volume of a board, which matters a lot for wingfoiling.Peter_Frank wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 8:32 pmWhat a stupid video, sorry to say....
talking about windspeed in mph is utterly useless for most of the world
Nautical miles, and therefore knots, are still legit and common even in a metric world. Totally makes sense for measuring distances at sea, and would have made even more sense in a pre-GPS past with the navigational instruments based on earth rotation.tkaraszewski wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 10:34 pmI'm gonna be the weird American and agree that the metric system is better (though coming from a sailing background I do use knots for windspeed). Even i the US we have kite sizes in meters, wing sizes in meters, board sizes in liters, mast lengths in cm, wing areas in square cm. We can just use metric, especially when creating videos for an international audience (could even add subtitles with US units for people who want them).
But I'm weird, I'm an American who has his phone set to show the weather in C and records how many km I ride on my bike.
Even if it's a US based shop, there's an international audience, that's what happens when you publish on YouTube.Peter_Frank wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 10:00 pm
So guess you are right, this video aims at local buyers solely.
