I'm looking to buy 11-12m kite with it's bar. Something reliable, not very old but not expensive. I'm looking for my first own gear. My Budget for kite+bar is around $1200
Who told you, that ya needed an 11 or 12m kite ; your instructor ?

You can get a new 11m and a used bar (That looks to be in great shape) for $1200:

The place where i live doesnt have strong wind most time of they year. As i checked average speed is around 12-15 knots. We have good winds during winter. Plus my weight is 200 pounds and I'm 6.0'

Guys, thank you so much for your help! I already love this community!
Well, i just discovered that i can buy brand new kite but older model. Like i found brand new 12m 2019 Karbinha with 2019 bar for $1380. so i guess i'll better save some money and go this way than try my luck to avoid scammers or some hidden problem with used kite. i mean this my first gear so i'm not experienced on how to choose a good used kite
Yes. On that budget, you can go new. You won't feel any difference between a 2019 and a 2021 year model.

Be careful with the model you choose though. What Cabrinha model did you find? Study the different types of kites and decide which suits you better before buying. Basically, a kite can be
- Freestyle (for tricks and unhooked riding)
- Freeride (usually stable, go well upwind, jumps well)
- Wave (more depower and drifts better down the wind; some times they don't go upwind very well)
- Racing
- All around (a kite in the middle that does relatively well in all areas)
- Learning / beginners. (Easier to fly and relaunch)

I would say you should stay away from Freestyle kites. Probably the best option would be an All Around kite, or a freeride kite.

An 11m kite on 15kts for a 200# rider may be too small of a kite.

Maybe you can get two used kites instead of one new. Maybe a 10 and a 14.

A 17 or 18 would work better, but he just took lessons. Learning on a 17 may get hard.

Craigslist is not bad, and there are websites that let you search it nation-wide, but I would be very leery about trying to buy or sell anything on it unless I could meet in person.
+1 I bought and sold many kites and other things in CL, even motorcycles. it's a great resource for local trading. You have to know how to avoid scammers and time wasters,
But you have to be able to meet in person. I wouldn't use CL to buy on line or on the phone.

yes, but on a 12 it's even harder when he won't get out of the water.

And a 17 is much better to be controlled than a 12...we are talking about 12-15 knots!

I don't understand the fear of a big kite in light winds...nothing to worry. But the kite needs to be ok to relaunch from water.
