Big Horns are Covered - Get Some

Postby Noahpz » Fri Oct 29, 2010 3:46 pm

Cale called me and gloated how my October elk hunting priorities are all wrong! He went on and on how the Big Horns are plastered white. Maybe he's right, as his video is proof:

Nice job!

The snow was still mostly velvet today. Mark and I had it all to ourselves. Tomorrow is looking good with cold temps and a 30% chance of a little more white candy.

I made the drive this a.m. and was rewarded with a steady 12m day at Bald and Lil' Bald Mtns. The coverage is excellent and the temps were in the high 40s. Spring-like conditions in November! Stronger winds tomorrow and Sunday (snow Monday)... Come on up!

SE winds today. Cross-on winds climbing Big Baldy in the background. Once on the skyline ridge it was stronger and boosting was sweet!

Saturday brought out a few more kiters. Another nicely powered 12m day, 45 degrees and spring-like snowpack. Here's a couple more pics....

I only took one photo today. 10m conditions. Fast snow, slow to soften but when it did it was sick! Again, we raged on Baldy and by the time left it was ripped up!

Jealous... and not far behind you. Looking for the next round of freshness this week. Pounding at Skyline today, hopefully some deep local rides this week too.

Got to love the Biggies, and any mountain with roadside access to terrain that needs minimal snow to be sick.

I see a lot of you guys use different Ozone kites. Can you give me some advice on which model to select and what size would be optimal for our conditions?
I am talking to our Ozone dealer for some test. I have to decide between frenzy and manta. I'm not realy into freestyle, more freeride. I occasionaly ride an old frenzy 7,5, but I am generaly underpowered. In average it doesn't get much stronger than 10 kts. I have 90+ kg.
Which model should I get and what size. I wouldn't wanna buy a kite which would be to big, specially in gusty conditions or, during winter when I go snowkiting on cca. 20 kts, but would still have some power at least to ride in 10 kts (with a mountainboard).
I was thinking on testing 9m2 Frenzy and 10m2 Manta, to compare this two, and to get a general feel of windrange for this size, but would also like to hear your opinions at least on what kite size to test.

What about different model year? Which model year of Frenzy and Manta do you think was the best ?
