My first day on the snow this winter. Very strong, gusty wind, the grass had hard icy lumps and not much snow because it had rained 4 days before and the wind was blowing the snow off the field. But I had a good enough time to worth posting the video.

Mt.Blackburn2014 - exploring new dimensions!

After two years of planning with many hardships, three friends from Munich made their way into a unique adventure: The Mount Blackburn Project. Achieving such a project would be a major challenge, they knew it was going to be tough, but this is something even they did not expect.

Skiing, snow-kiting, ice climbing and paragliding on a glaciated strato volcano in Alaska!

Alpine mountaineering has many facets. The aim of the Blackburn2014 project was to add even more to it. The combination of fun and extreme sports, snowkiting, paragliding and ski mountaineering makes this project unique and uncomparable in style.

In the spring of 2014, Philip Kuchelmeister, Sebastian Bubmann and Andreas Hillmer headed to Mt. Blackburn in Alaska. The 4996m high, glaciated volcano in the Mount St. Elias Range should provide the perfect setting for this ultimate snowkite project. The Mt.Blackburn team made great use of the lightweight, small packsize, low-wind flying capabilities and powerful pull of the Flysurfer PEAK to achieve their snowkite goals during this project.

We had on Feb 2 kinda winter storm of the year so decided to test friend's new Ozone Access 2015 6m in hard wind conditions.
Made a duo trip across Volga river in S 30-40mph. I was on my 4m 2006.
Almost half way it was totally blind white out. Sometimes a visibility was less that a few meters. Heading to island in mid of Volga river we could find it only by it's wind shadow turbulence. We could see it only when closed to less than a hundred meters. made short stop there and continued the way to next islands.
In the morning I phoned to the friend and offering him this trip I asked him: "Do you clearly realise that riding today you take on the risk of loosing equipment or getting injured?.."
I could rely on our Ozones up to 45mph wind and forecast promised only 40 but... you never know the power of nature. If it shoots 60 we. could be in trouble. Once I've been here in over 50mph and get lost. This time I had GPS and plus added trimmer to my 2006 Ozone Access. It hadn't it by design.
Final report - the new Ozone Access 2015 6m kite is excellent!
PS The wind was max about 40mph and friend didn't pull trimmer at all.
At the end of the trip my kite became to fly very bad - flipped, turned over leading edge/ . When landed I found in wing tips pockets two heavy solid snow bricks.))
At the end friend impressed folks by easy landing and packing his Ozone at the parking lot using new re-ride system
