Way to get after it Matt! Gotta love the rare Ridgway session. I'll keep it on my radar. Big Mac is looking good tomorrow...

PSA: The regular Big Mac area is heavily wind scoured and slabbed, except for very small pockets of softer snow. US Basin was much softer yesterday and worked well with good NW winds, especially at the top end of the cirque. The sun was out and the temps were balmy!

Awesome Matt!
3” of ice is a bit thin for my taste though!
Pictures of US basin look amazing, I never kited there! How long is the skin part compare to usual BigMac launch?
Tomorrow i am going for the Upper Bear creek. Hoping the wind will be less S and more WNW, wrap around and give me the goods! !
I ll be on first #8 chair if someone want to join.

Mickey,
Just think light thoughts and go fast! I was actually wearing a PFD and picks of life but was glad that I didn't need to use them.

The US Basin skin is maybe 15 minutes longer than the normal Big Mac approach. Or do the regular and kite traverse south and drop in via 25-30 degree slopes.

I am up in the front range this week and need to give a big shout out to all the Lake Dillon locals and especially Chris Clay. Chris was nice enough to go out of his way to pick me up to join him at the Lake. We also had a great excursion up to the alpine today even though the wind did not cooperate. Chris is starting up an enterprise giving lessons at Lake Dillon and I can say that Chris is very focused on safety while learning. He is trying hard to continue building the Colorado snowkite community so look him up if you need pro teaching, etc.

Nice work Mickey! Parker and I tried that same day but got skunked. I got the snow machine sorted out to head up Dunton road to the Meadows. Nice hills for anything S to W. I can tow a couple folks up there, so I'll try to reach out for a good day when we can get a posse together.

Grand Mesa kite event. Thur-Sun. Getting excited! Positives 4" of fresh powder😄.
Wind however is forecast on the light side. I'm going exploring on my SM, scouting out regular windy areas tomorrow and checking out conditions at kite lake area tommorow.
A local told me today that the lakes are still slush free which is awesome news 👍
I'm going to post my best guess on wind and weather conditions tomorrow. :thumb:

Soooo great adventure yesterday. Locked keys in car with the wind howling and my kites inside the car. Due to miscommunication did not get home till 10:30😤.
Kite the Mesa is on. Ten inches of fresh snow. Light winds forecast for today and Friday looks incredible. Saturday good and Sunday howling again. Day temps in the 40's night temp to the low 20s. Look for the Southwind RV either in Mesa top parking lot or by the lands end road don't forget alternative activities cross country skiing and down hill nearby at Powder Horn. We will be celebrating my son's birthday Friday night come by and get some cake. There will be SM there to tow people to the out back things should be getting started around 1.

Anthony,
I'll be up there Saturday late with my camper van and snow machine. Looking forward to it!
