I took advantage of a gusty day yesterday to see if a wing feels safer than a kite. It does. First day putting miles in:
How do you think the wingtips will hold up if kiting over frozen/crusty/icy surfaces?

Anyone know if there's enough snow for kiting Snow Mesa, above Spring Creek Pass, south of Lake city, as of late Feb? Closest SNOTEL site shows about 40"-45" of snow, but I've never kited there and don't know if that's enough. TIA

That's a good question. The tips have a pretty beefy material on them, and as you may know, you really want to keep the tips off the surface (otherwise it drives downward and you probably need to let go anyway). With strong wind, that's easier to do.
I just noticed some wear on the sail material near the leading edge during my last session. I think that's from when you release it and it lands upside down (?). I think I'm more concerned about that, but time will tell.

House is now livable and just need to finish the north side siding, will get back to it in a couple of months when warmer.
Been riding a lot, mostly MM n LH. Still staying away from the sketchy backcountry conditions.
Lot of good SW wind coming up in the next days!
Picture from my last MM ride a few days ago, on 6m, 30 miles track:
