Hardwater Kiting Global Speed Ranking '17 Week 2 Results. 64.6 mph!

Postby Hardwater Kiter » Tue Jan 17, 2017 8:39 pm

Week 2 is complete and once again Guy Lebrun stays on top. Fellow Canadian Bob Pelletier was a close second place just 3.3 mph short of catching Guy. Chris Krug cam in with an even closer 3rd at just .2 mph short of catching Bob and barely,BARELY keeping the US in the top 3.

Northeast Canadians are a fast bunch!

We are happy to see former ranking winner Petri Lehikoinen of Finland returning to the ranking with a respectable 51.76 mph followed closely by a speedy Molly Savard with 50.2 mph!

And last but not least, the winner of this week's random t-shirt drawing of participants if Jeff Jacobs of Pewaukee Wisconsin!

We are impressed with the speeds people are entering already this season. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

Would be neat to see some videos of the speed runs. Are they posted anywhere?

Some fast footage on our YouTube channel. This example is not super fast but the video quality is pretty good. We have a gimbal coming Thursday for future use runs.

Heheh funny you should mention that Zero. With the smooth ice we've had it makes suicides a relatively straight forward affair. I've been flying Sonic 2s and Chronos which make it even easier. As you probably know the commitment thing is the first component but having a kite that goes well in apparent and goes upnwind is also important. Only times I screwed them up is when I didn't fully commit or ifnthere was a major wind shift during that. Riticzl moment when the kite is finishing coming around.

I have a pair of skis that I'm mounting up that should make the circles a bit tighter and faster. I want to get some good on board footage at some point here soon.

Amazing the acceleration in that first video. And that surface looked primo. Never gets old watching people sprint like that and always has a similar look to it.
