i'm praying huricane henri, is gonna chill out and calm down before land fall
If it does "chill out", is that due to gretta making us aware of climate change?

If it doesn't "chill out", then is that because of global warming?

Take a 5 year sample to establish the "record" temperature.

Then take a 10 year sample and see if your "record" is exceeded. I can just about guarantee you that the 10 year record will be exceeded if you increase the sample time.

Then do this for 100 years, then 1000 years, then 10,000 years.

The point is that if you have a continually increasing length of time, you increase the "record" almost at every addition of time.

If you already are in a natural warming period, you can guarantee that the "record" will continously be surpassed. This fact is not an indication that global warming is adding the full amount the record has been surpassed. To claim that it is, would be emotional junk science.

Extending your sample size always yields greater variation.

Extending your sample size one direction with an underlying trend will yield more variation in the direction of that trend.

do you want to live like this ? if not take action -kick the leaders up the arse, and force them to drop temperatures, cause this is just the beginning-it will get worse, stronger , more inocent people will die -they say water levels will raise for 1000 years because of us,and our greed and lack of care of our home-how stupid is that. we have completely fucked up our weather system -the upper level jet streams are very unstable because of the hotter everything - what have we left our children?

Surprised we haven't gotten any weather forecasts lately.

And no - I don't believe this proves that climate change isn't happening, but I do believe it shows how pointless anecdotal evidence is in this context.

Of course colder weather is also caused by Co2-emissions so....

I thought that we had moved beyond this (does global warming exist or not). Anecdotal "evidence" is obviously pointless but a trend is kind of provable, I mean I think you can statistically "prove" that over the last X years, average temperature has gone up with "at least" Y degrees with certainty of Z % that you are right. So I thought the argument is then about 1. what is a relevant time frame X (The Matteo's would argue for a long period and others would argue for a short period - usually starting at industrial revolution) and 2. Is the change "man made" or not.

I guess maybe the point you want to make or to reinforce is that anecdotal "evidence" is pointless. And it still does seem necessary to repeat that point but how many times..? It has been made many times already. It's quite frustrating.. Posts containing parts of sentences like "there is no proof", same thing by the way.. Few people appear to be able to evolve in their thinking. Which has also been mentioned a number of times. There is no discussion here.
