Yo!
I have seen previous threads, but did not get a clear answer. Can we camp at Skyline? FourWheelCamper on a Tacoma. Thinking of heading up there for the New Year's weekend (weather dependent, of course).
Cheers!
Free 14 day stay. Vault toilets right there. Move out of the parking lot if they show up to plow it. Head to Strawberry to avoid the whiteout if there is more than a small ammount of snow forecast.mmclimbhigh wrote: ↑Tue Dec 08, 2020 12:47 amYo!

What do the sled necks do to trash it up? Beer cans and cig butts?Matteo V wrote: ↑Tue Dec 08, 2020 1:47 amFree 14 day stay. Vault toilets right there. RV dump station is no longer free down at the gas stations in Fairview.
Bring a shovel to help out the 84year old volunteer that snow shovels (by hand) the bathrooms and cleans them. Pitching in puts us a bit ahead of the slednecks that trash up the place.
First off, let me say that the guys showing up with $70,000 worth of truck, and another $60,000 worth of sleds &trailer, are awesome. They almost never leave trash behind, and are conscientious an courteous around kiters. They also leave the kite area looking for good snow in the trees pretty quick. I call these guys "pros". I actually enjoy having them around.
There is enough snow at Skyline. There are still some rocks and sage showing, but it is snowing as we speak with more in the forecast. Strawberry is still dicey, but may be rideable by New Years or the week following with a number of storms on the way.How are things looking at Skyline? The Snotel gauge is reading 15". Good to go or still too shallow? Hoping to get up there in a couple of weeks...
