Touring bindings

Has any one used pin bindings? Are they strong enough? I’ve used Marker frame bindings for kite skiing and they work fine. I would assume some of the latest hybrid bindings like the Shift would work well, but has anyone any experience of using the light weight pin bindings like the Alpinist? Could be expensive and dangerous if they broke.

On skis i lock in the toe 2 clicks past step in on the g3 ions, work fine. If you are not doing heavy freestyle and expecting to land off edge and twist, pin bindings will be fine. You will lose dampening that you get from frame bindings.

I've heard both. I got the MNC 13 shift binding exactly because of this.

Marker Alpinist. Amazing binding, so far I'd say on par with my Marker Chester. Difficult to get in in the beginning, but you'll get used to it.

I have had the Dynafit TLT.
Game changer compared to a normal touring frame.

Never had any problems. But also no massive jumping, or big drops.

For going mainly downhill with the skiing Lift up, I use a frame.

I am also using Dynafit TLT. No issues, of course more difficult to step in than with a pure downhill binding, but I prefer my broad and light touring skis for snowkiting. - Tom

Go with the most reliable pin bindings on the market. Dynafit! I have hammered these bindings for many years and they work awesome.
