Heading to Beaver Creek end of December. As Colorado Kite Force are now defunct what options are there for snowkiting in the Beaver Creek/ Vail/ Lake Dillion area?
Thanking you

There’s a park in Eagle that guys kite in when covered, and Dillon Reservoir which I think the ice isn’t thick enough yet but the land next to might be covered. They are running the men’s World Cup at Beaver Creek this weekend so you might get an idea about conditions if watch the TV coverage. They hit 85 miles per hour on the downhill course with two pitches hitting 40 degrees - it’s the second steepest course they race on and I think they cover 2,500 vertical feet in a minute and a half.

What about conditions at Dillon, this week between Xmas and NYD? Our equivalent lake here in NM, Eagle Nest Lake, is still awaiting thick enough ice to kite on, as of the official 12-19-21 State Park announcement.

Dillon is still open water. FYI, Dillon is pretty consistently not kiteable before New Years Day.

Drove by Dillon January 4th, good snow cover on inlet and lake and high wind. Haven’t heard if ice is thick enough.
