Yup. I love kite-buggying. A while ago I got myself a Sysmic S3 so I can get it with on travels by plane, but there's been Corona ever since.

Got to Cape Town in nov/dec 2018 and could hardly find any buggy for rent, so i figured I had to find a way to get my own with - still have to find out how much it costs to travel with 3 pc. luggage though...

Going to Rømø in Denmark in May, can hardly wait!

Latest (presentable) vid is from 2020; greetings from Oslo, Norway; https://youtu.be/JGTi0CAOQF0

I still buggy with Flexifoil bugs but only at my local. Check out Power Kite Forum for more on buggy scene and YouTube for buggy build. Popeyethewelder has or used to have a website and vids on buggy builds.

I would build a bug with blades for ice but not sure that I would for snow. I would have to research runner design for side grip and steering although the vid Winter kitebuggy Mars 2017 seems interesting.

Here's Popeyethewelder's website that Herman mentioned with a good bit on building kite buggies.
There used to be some great buggy builders back in the day but most have since hung up their welding torches including popeye.
Carl was the undisputed King. https://popeyethewelder.com/popeyethewe ... te-buggies

Hi khaakon, Great photo's of your S3. I ordered one too after seeing yours on extremekites a while back.
Unfortunately I've only used mine once due to Corona of course and a year blighted by light winds but I did manage a few cheeky runs of 60 mph. :naughty:

It might interest you that I took my T3 race buggy from UK to Ivanpha dry lake (Las Vegas) back in 2011 on an airliner and if memory serves I think it cost me between £250-350 for the extra 5pc baggage with a total weight of 100kgs!! Your S3 will obviously be much lighter and compact tho. :)

test video of S3 / incomplete. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6idOcDJE9RA

gotta love those XXLMidi's no? :thumb:

Love it Bille!
You're unstoppable.

I must have made it known that Ivanpah was on my bucket list way back then as I remember you replying to me and offering me a drink if I ever got over there. :)
Me and my friend Cliff finally visited in May 2011 for the weekend, yes, 10,500 mile round trip for just two days and missing the earlier NABX/IBX event, so we were mostly alone on Ivanpah. We did see a white haired gentleman riding a blowkart with a two tone red sail with a blue tip, was that you?

The wind was disappointingly low, around 8-12 mph, the remarkable thing was that I achieved 43 mph, Cliff got 47 mph! That surface is something else! No wonder people come from all over the world to ride there. I envy you living so close. That's pretty amazing. If I ever win the lottery I'll move out there, buy a beat up old camper van and just live out on the playa. Yeah, it was a great experience.
The scenery alone was worth the trip and Las Vegas, that is one mad town.

I was dehydrated while out on Ivanpah, it had reached 100f, so I walked over to the boot of the car and drank from a gallon container until I could drink no more, closed the boot, walked about 10ft and immediately spun around to return to drink more water, haha. It gave me a greater appreciation and respect for Caine crossing the desert in that 70's TV series Kung Fu.

Is that offer of a drink still open?

Here's my video ( shamless 8) ) of that weekend.

OH YEA ; I really Like, drinking with friends, after
a good day full of adrenaline !! :thumb:

This was my old cart ; sold it when i got
back into kites. Most all of 2008 i was in that wheel
chair, and the Blowcark made sense, with the hand
control steering ; instead of using feet.
