Naish Torch II review

Postby dazza5172 » Wed Jan 18, 2006 11:28 am

Hey guys our local kite shop lets me demo some equipment for the Club, I tested the Naish Torch II, got to ride it quite a few times in different conditions.

Kite is awsome, turning speed, bar pressure, lift, power and depower. It has almost a bow feel about it with the power and depower letting you power up into the surf for jumps and depower coming back for wave riding. I was really impressed, if you want to see a few photos and more reports I put it on the web:

The 16 Rocks, Ludmil!
Way more lift and pop than last years.
I'm a Raven man myself though... gotta love that float!

Got the 16m. You won't be disappointed. Compare to your Torch1, they improved the turning speed and the lift. Really nice bar pressure too. Basically they tweaked a bunch of features of the torch1 to make it even better.
The chicken loop is also nicely redesign for better safety.

Yah, the Torch II is a great kite! I tested the 8, 12, 14 & 16m (& 12 & 16m Raven) along with the ’06 Thorn and noticed a big difference from the Torch I (I’d flown the Torch I in 12, 16 & 20m). 8m & 14m were my favorite kites.

Agree with above; fast turning, consentient power, noticed improvement on power control during landings (landing were soft & controlled even at high speeds), front line “Yâ€

Yes, I was told this was the 2006 Thorn board.

I rode the 2006 Thorn one time, lit out of my mind on an 8m Torch II (Naish Demo day at the Hood River sandbar)...

The board was wicked fast, held a very solid edge, & was really nice in carving transitions. Only thing I didn’t like is the board edges are very thin and razor sharp. The board sliced my shin on a wipe out. ~D

Hi Dano!
I notice you have a 06 ss fuel on your picture. How is the fuel in comparison to the torch. I would like to hear some pros and cons on bouth, especially in the 11 fuel and 12 torch.
