Takoon SW 5'1 :(

Postby kazys » Mon Aug 02, 2021 12:05 pm

Takoon comet SW 5'1 wingsurf board, really nice and comfy, but one fall and hit with the knee of the front leg and board is destroyed:(. Only one mm of the timber in the front of the deck! (1000€ incl shipping only)
According the website strong bamboo construction + 12 months guarantee. What to do now?
My next bord will be carbon, not timber, not this brand.

That's a big dent. I have mine coming this week (4'10).
What did Takoon say?

you broke it your fault. they can fix it but you have to send it to them 150euros one way plus repair, I guess 500 in total :( . not worth it.

Light, strong or cheap. Pick any two.

The damage isn’t in the standing or foil area and doesn’t take a lot of load. Cut it out, dry it, fill it with some hard urethane foam and cover with some glass. Check the following link for more repair ideas: https://boardlady.com/

The board is designed for the water sport with the possibility of to foling it to the water or on it( so warranty for the area under your feet only, but other areas no warranty?) Thanks for the repair advice, but I have paid full price and do not expect extra jobs. If I have a workshop, tools, and skills to make the equipment I would not buy it in the first place :).

it can happend with any board, even with carbon, that’s my experience,

easy to repair , as said previously it is not a critical area, a pro can do that for some $ and you will
never see it has been repaired, ask takoon for the exact color or the board.

I would not compare the one millimetre of timber and carbon.
The Takoon does not provide information about the week spots construction details, if I know that there is only 1mm of timber would never buy it. The website says strong!!! Bamboo construction 🙂.
I would not buy equipment if it need to repair after 10sessions.
I am done with Takoon, getting Levitaz. 🤙
