and if you need flat water, Parguera...

and like I always say, one day of Parguera is like 5 days at any other spot.

January... Should be windy 45% of the time.

Let me know if you need any information regarding Puerto Rico,

What is the best time of year to visit PR for kiting? I'm thinking about taking a 4 day trip down there to visit friends in Rincon.

Depends what you want to do - Waves? Jan - March.

Flat water/TT? Jan - April & July.

Ive found April and July to be the windiest months in PR. Biggest waves in Jan - March. Some really good flat water spots run dry in March though April (e.g. Guayama Pozuelo). Summer time Picuas goes shallow too, but rideable. Picaus is really nice in Jan - April during high tide - nice TT waves to rip around in outside the reef. Flat water inside. Playa Del Yunque (next to Picuas) is pretty awesome flat water with little waves section on E wind days.

I just want wind!

My buddy who lives down there said the same thing as you. Wind is best in March/April/July.

Ha only if it was always that easy! But riding style does matter because if you desire wave riding, July is not the time to go. April the waves can be good but summer transition so you get days of light surf. So then my answer would be March.

But if you are a TT rider - Then yes, March/April and July should be good odds to have wind almost every day. Bring a 14 or 15m just in case or you can rent one from 15knots in Isla Verde if you get a LW day.
