Hey new to the forum, typically I have been kiting in places like Exuma Bahamas, and Turks and Caicos, but am looking for something a bit different. Given I grew up in the south east, I would love to take about 1 month from work and spend it in Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. But I do have some questions. I would be going towards the end of June. Given I am going to multiple places, would it be easier just to rent kite gear, or do you suggest I bring my own, 12m and 2 boards (speed and low wind)
Thailand:
Phuket Nai Yang Beach - This seems to be an hour away from Pataong, and I really dont want to be in the middle of no where for kiting. Has anyone kited in Nai Yang? It is supposed to be windy June, July and August
Vietnam:
Mui Ne - Low Wind in June
Cambodia:
Low Wind

Hi. Just wondering if you made your trip in July? And if so where to? My daughter is looking for somewhere in Vietnam or Thailamd to learn to kite and progress during the month of July. But I'm struggling to recommend anywhere with good reliable winds at that time of year. Grateful for any help.......

Nai Yang is far from being in the middle of no where. It's 10mn from the international airport. There are 2 kite schools, many local restaurants and even two 5 stars hotels (Mariott and Slate). As for the wind it's difficult to forecast. The best months are usually July and August. Some years are windy but some years are not . If you have an hydrofoil it helps a lot though.

Hi There,
I live in Cambodia since 2009.
This year we had everyday wind in July, so I don't know where you get your stats from that there is "low wind" in Cambodia during this time.
Normally there is a kite event (before covid-19) every year for seven editions already around June/July.
So hopefully the next time you want to visit give Cambodia a go because it is so much better than Thailand or Vietnam in this season.
