Kiteboarding in Veradero

Postby Whattheflock » Mon Jan 14, 2019 5:37 pm

Hello, just asking if anyone has kiteboarded in Veradero? If you have, can you kite from your hotel? Do they have specific kiting areas per resort? I see they have kite schools and likely kite areas around there but it's way down the beach.

I tried emailing the resort but haven't got anything back. I'll obviously ask around when I get there before I do anything but just curious if anyone has had some experience there?

Not sure this will be helpful but... I didn't take kit but did speak to people who were kiting when I was out there. No problems with the hotel beach management staff and the couple of people I spoke to said they didn't have a problem accessing the beach in front of hotels they weren't staying at (the hotels operated an all inclusive wrist band system so they were checked on entry into the grounds - beach seemed public access).

Again, it was 3 or 4 years ago so might have changed but it would have been totally possible. The hotel I stayed at had a golf buggy train that would take you and your beach wear to the watersports area of the beach which helps a bit.

This has been discussed many times before. Kiting is forbidden at the tip of the peninsula where the wind is onshore it is allowed further down where it is generally offshore. You have to pay a tax to kite there. This is why nobody goes there for kiting anymore.

Oh ok.. kiteboarding would just be a bonus, going for a wedding more than anything. What do you mean have to pay a tax? They have 2 kiteboarding schools there
.. apparently?
