Kitesurfing in Greece

Postby Theboy » Wed Apr 24, 2019 7:27 pm

Hi Kiters,

I'd like to ask you for help - looking for nice FLAT spot in Greece except Lefkada ( I was there already )
I am looking also for nice beach and surroundings. I thought Santorini can be nice, but I am not sure.
A month - Jun

Thank You :bye:

I’m also heading to Greece in May and itinerary is planned. Going to check out Naxos after researching the islands. Naxos seems to have a few kite schools that will rent out gear. only planning a day of kiting and won’t be hauling my own gear all over the place when visiting.

Raches-Stylida has flat and chop, Lefkadi (not Lefkada) has a flat area, and it's close to the city of Chalkida, only 1 hour from Athens. It doesn't have the looks of a tropical beach, but wind is mostly great there, almost every afternoon it's thermal wind, from about 15:00 til sunset. Contact Dimitri at https://kitegreece.com/ Most used sizes are 9 up to 12 for normal sized ppl, smaller for smaller sized ppl. Has a nice little beachbar and facilities.

You will like it! May is maybe not the windiest month (Meltemi wind has usually not started, usually starts in June) but the island is beautiful and there is lots to do other than kiting.
Have fun!!

Hi guys, latching on to this, as I am also going in July/August. Do any of you know of someone who's offering lessons on Kefalonia or would I have to go to Lefkada?

Not sure about Kefalonia, in and around Lefkada there are a few spots though: Milos Beach (around the windmills/ "Agios Ioannis"), then there is flatwater spot at "Gefiraki" meaning little bridge (about a 20 minute drive from Lefkada direction Agios Nikolaos) and the third one is at Agios Nikolaos, about 30 mins drive from Lefkada. Of the three, I'd reckon the windmill spot is the most windy, it always seems to have a few knots more than the others. Besides, it is ON Lefkada itself, right next to the city center. Entry and exit into water can be tricky when there are waves/ shorebreak because it's not really sandy but volcanic soil, so it can be sharp. Milos Beach has a resort (milos beach resort) where you can rent, have lessons, or use facilities like storage and water. Also has a restaurant etc. When it's windy, mostly every afternoon around 14:00 and later, it's an amazing spot, the water is turquoise blue everywhere. Hope that helps.
