Help choosing July destination

Postby bkkite » Sun May 26, 2019 5:23 pm

I’m changing jobs and I’ll have a week or two to go kite somewhere and need help. I’ll be departing Paris or New York City and don’t really want to fly more than 6-7 hours. Ideally I’d like a remote tropical scenic place without huge masses of people so I can kite and recover before going back to a stressful job. I just did Dakhla in Jan.

Greece? Portugal? Dominican Republic? Aruba?

Greece would be great from Paris, Aruba or maybe Hood River from New York? And then there is always Hatteras :D

dominican republic for sure. easy flight from nyc to pop, followed by an easy taxi ride to cabarete. many good accommodation options on kite-beach. you'll meet a ton of people at kite-club. the local riders are a lot of fun to watch. usually good wind in july, though always the possibility of hurricane. probably will be hot though.

Will it be crazy crowded? I heard the wind was solid, just wasn’t sure if I should get a little more off the beaten path

Greek islands are great for twin tippers (assuming from your profile). I've been to Rhodes a couple times and had wind every day plus great food and scenery. If you leave from Paris, that seems like a no brainer.

If you leave from NY, I would go a little farther than Caribbean and go to Maui. Great for twin tippers in the summer and has many other good things to do (hiking, waterfalls, surfing, biking, ...).

Cabarete is pretty enormous - is it really crowded all over the place?
