Hows the kitesurfing in Virginia Beach, VA? How reliable is the wind? I see there's at least 2 schools there. Im talking about summer time, June through September. I'm wondering if its worth driving down from Wilmington, DE. Its around a 5 hour drive.
Thanks

Its ok. The wind is not super reliable. If there is a sea breeze pattern or some NE weather coming through the beaches can be good.
Beaches can be crowded at times. The resort area (downtown oceanfront roughly) is not for kiting.
There are spots within 30-60’ for west and southwest wind.
VA beach does not get the regular SW summer wind OBX does, and spots to sail it are fewer.
If you just want open kiting territory and spots for different wind directions you dont need to come all the way down to VAB, all the bays and beaches between wilmington and there offer options.
But none of them offer the miles of beach and better wind chances of OBX, if you feel like putting up with 7-8 hours of driving.
On the other hand if you want hotels, urban development and a different flavor from OBX, VA beach is cool for what it is....
