Did a storm pass by ?
First major fall noreaster has been blowing all over the east coast all week.
And that coupled with a full moon causes a higher full tide.

Road is now open from Rodanthe through Avon, and crews are working on the Oregon Inlet to Rodanthe, but I would not be confident they can get it open for long before the next high tide this evening. Thousands of people are supposed to leave the island today and thousands to arrive, this is making a real mess of things. But for kitesurfers they are not missing much as the wind has died as high pressure moves in and will not return till late tomorrow.
