A friend of mine went to Cuyo. Loved it, but it is in the middle of nowhere. If you like that kind of stuff then it works. Such a shame Boracay is so messed up. Could have been such a cool place.
Thailand I don't know. Only been told it is mostly light wind. Some friends went to Hua Hin and they seemed to enjoy it, but then they had like 15 knots.

It’s looking like I might get December off and I decided on Vietnam. Looks like good wind, pretty cheap, and it’s somewhere new for me. I kited in Hua Hin. Really liked it and thought about going back.

Ok, Japan is out. Broke my wrist there skiing and man, for 3hrs they could not find English speaking doctor.
Well, not finding an English speaking doctor is not a criterion to
not go there. If the rest is fine, I'd still consider it, but I can't seem to find a good spot in Japow.
Ha ha, I hope u do understand how much expensive Japan is, and once seriously injured, the language barrier is a huge obstacle. Think visiting a few hospitals, and ending up in a private one.
Something we, kiters, should not take that lightly.
Philli in Dec is monsoons season as well as all tropics in Asia.
Good luck.

Hi blablubb 1234,
do Yourself am favor and forget Asia especially Thailand in Dezember (Monsun) . In Hua Hin You will not have so much rain, more in the south, but if there is wind You have many days with nearly no beach because the water is very high. Than an ugly short surf and plenty of waves outside. If You want to walk You have to walk in the water.
If You think it is warm and You don´t need a full dress than You should know that we have plenty of Yellyfishes and nobody kites without wetsuit.
My advice, stay with Brasil it seems to be the best place to work on Your progress !
Have a good time

Thanks for all the tips. Still, I am entirely confused now...
Some say Asia (Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, etc.) is good in winter despite (or even because of) the winter monsun, others say I should not do that at all...
I agree that Brasil would probably be best, but the connections are kinda shitty, take very long and are quite expensive. That's why I'd still like to go somewhere else.

Weather in the Philippines that time of year should be fine. The weather isn't the same all over Asia.

I live 3hrs flying from Bali.
That is Indonesia. We do not go there in tropical rain season. A cyclone can form in relatively short time, and when it hits, its a death zone. Not all weather conditions become a typhoon/cyclonic but there is a lot of rain. And that is what makes it unpredictable at that time of the year.
As I type this there is a lot of rain here in Perth, which was almost unheard off. Not for 1st of November.
So, its a gamble:

If money and visa is not an issue, come to Perth. Sure, its 17-19hrs flying from Frankfurt, but one only landing in Doha. It is a top destination, worth every penny.

By December, the entire Caribbean is on. choose your favorite island and it will work. At this time, further east and south is a bit more steady and reliable in my experience. most islands are good for flat water and beginners with the exception of Barbados. these islands are also great for snorkeling, scuba, ... many options.
if you would like an epic wind blast, costa rica is also on by then. this area is great for hiking, jungle, monkeys, adventure, ... I went twice in my big air days. wow.
both of these areas are warm - no wet suit.

Totally agree. I was in Perth for 5 months in 2016 from September to January and it was amazing. Safety Bay, Woody's, Lancelin, Coronation Beach are fantastic spots.
I always travel for kite in October or November, and having been seven times in the NE of Brazil, once in Mauritius and once in Barbados (in March), for the 2020 kitetrip I have chosen South Africa from mid-November to mid-December.
But I'm sure I'll be back to WA to hire a campervan and go from Exmouth to Esperance.
PD: I fly from Europe too (Barcelona).
