Saw an article today in the Wall Street Journal on airline ticket prices so I checked and was able to get some good prices on United Airlines for a trip next year using my miles.
So you might want to check.

I'm wanting to book some flights to go to Cape Town. Wish they had dates for King of the Air so I could go for it.

To where ?
To the destination of your choice.
The article said in the past the airlines’ computer systems used big data to set their rates on different dates and times to optimize their revenue. But now with COVID, their systems have nothing to go on since no one is traveling. So one day you will see very low fares to a destination and then next day they will be high. The article also if you wanted to use airline miles you shouldn’t have any trouble using them.

Thats for sure.
But by next year we should see many vaccinations worldwide, so risk will get limited.
Be sure to see if your insurance will cover you if you get infected...that is currently a big problem of you travel to a risky region.

Desperately hoping I can get to CT myself in January, but my guess it won't be enough time. Last time I checked basically no international flights landed in CT - even if airlines are selling tickets for future departures.

I am waiting for what the world will look like mid/end october. Not booking anything before that because it would only get my hopes up. Might even take a year off after this shit year.

I wouldn't get my hopes up for vaccination roll out for active sporty kiters any time soon. People with health conditions at risk, health care workers, and the elderly will get the first batches that come out. And that will take months to roll out on a big scale across the world. And if you look at the state of affairs in SA at the moment, you can certainly forget about the dec-feb '21 season I think. Better to stay local and save up for 2022!
