Hey guys
Which global kite spots are open to international visitors?
I only know Maui has a 2-week quarantine rule upon arrival which they may reduce on Oct 15. However, it's still confusing how it actually works or if it's feasible.
Is it even possible to do a 4-month kite/surf trip this year?

The (current) rules in South Africa are:
1. No travel from "high risk" countries. The list is here
http://www.dha.gov.za/index.php/list-of ... -countries. The list will be updated every 14 days.
2. People arriving must have had a PCR Covid 19 test date/timestamped not less than 72 hours before arrival signed by a practising doctor who must also print his/her name.
3. Valid travel insurance including cost of treatment of Covid-19 should they contract it.
But subject to that no requirement to quarantine on arrival.
So if you can deal with all that ... come!
We are offering a 100% money-back guarantee: if you cannot travel or have to quarantine on arrival and choose not to come we will give you all your money back (no voucher ... just a 100% refund). If you book a flexible ticket and can book/cancel holiday without problems at work then why not roll the dice and see if you can get some winter sun and wind after all!

I just wonder how many will actually risk that? Random positive test 63 hours before departure and you are in a bit of a mess.
Hoping SA will take away the need for a test come January.
Considering we only got 3 months left of the year a 4 months trip sounds difficult

Barbados - still have to bring a negative test record, but no other beach restrictions and really no cases there right now. Correction - you have to stay in your hotel/rental, whatever until you have a 2nd negative test anywhere 5 to 14 days, pretty much kills a vacation. I don't blame them at all, but makes it pretty difficult for a week long trip.

The south african restrictions make it almost impossible to go. Travel from USA, even if welcome, takes around 40 hours, so you have only 30 hours to get the test, and it comes as a text message so getting a docs signature is near impossible.

I've just learnt recently that Cabo Verde has opened for tourists recently, so, most probably, I will head there somewhere in Jan - Feb for 5-6 weeks.
My #1 winter option - Vietnam - is closed and doesn't seem like it's going to open any time soon. Same Philippines.
alternatively to CaboVerde - I still do some research on Sao Miguel do Gostoso (Brasil) area, which is said to be much windier in Jan-Feb ( I can only go after Christmas) than Ceara, but the problem is that reports & reviews on this area (and this time of year) are sparse on the internets, and I'm not sure if I could trust them, yet alone go there for long time risking to fail.
Other than that, Sout Africa seems ok, although for work related / time difference reasons it's not convenient for me to go there, so will go to CaboVerde most probably.... or Sao Miguel if I'll get some reliable opinions on winds there : )

I think you will be very lucky if you can get into Vietnam as they are really strict, first possible places that will open up to get into Vietnam from will be other asian countries and places like Oz and NZ, if you can get in it will be really good as prices will be super cheap and there won't be so many people

I was quite optimistic that I would be able to travel this winter, but looking worse and worse for every day. Even if countries open up the insurance companies would have to follow. Right now my insurance would not be valid booking a trip to for example Cape Verde.
You also got the issue with tests. Maybe it is possible now, but earlier one could not just book a test in Norway. Certainly not for traveling. If you want to enter Cape Verde you need a negative test from less than 72 hours before travelling.

Now you can go wherever you want, but my friends went to Thailand, got sick with covid and decided that they had done a stupid thing, since they themselves suffered and infected others!
