What about the must go locations?
Im from Fortaleza but never been passed Jeri.
Just Barra Grande once.
I am doing this trip until Atins (20ish days by 4x4) because dont want to travel abroad.
What kite locations to consider?

Good advice on speed cameras!
They also film red lights.
From 22:00 til 5:00 you can slowly pass them (less than 20 km/h). Recommended to not stop at night.
The cameras are indicated 200m before, and speed limits on the ground and signs on the side.
Look out for: Fiscalisacao Electronica

Don't drive on bus lane, only just before you need to turn.
Always light on, always security belt, no fone while driving...cameras everywhere!

Outside of Fortaleza, less cameras, and normally for speed.

While in Fortaleza and Cumbuco, you can move with Uber.

Always consider to sell your gear! Prices are very high in Brazil due to high import taxes...so you could easily buy a new kite back home for your used kite sold in Brazil.
And you save baggage on return.

Looks like wind season will start from tomorrow on ;-)

PS: Cauipe is PACKED. Too many lessons. Just got hit by a beginner some weeks ago. Pain for 1 week from the lines cutting my skin. Rather go up to Taiba, or on high tide to Tabuba lagoon.

To help with the speed cameras, we usually install some apps.

Here's one that I like a lot https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... t_BR&gl=US

just open it along Google Maps (GPS) and it'll advise you (in portuguese) and beep an alarm when approaching the speed and red light cameras.

@Toby: Good recall about reselling the used gear when coming back to your country. I've already bought some stuffs from "gringos" (the brazilian way to refer to any foreigner) when they're returning :D

About the language. It's not easy to find brazilians fluent in English but, maybe, you can try some easy/simple words in spanish -- a big maybe here since portuguese and spanish are different languages and Brazilians do not speak spanish LOL but, some words are close.

Thanks 🙏 everyone, great info.
Do you think it would be a good idea to keep the gear in the bed of the truck? Wouldn't an SUV be a better option?

I did the exact same trip 2 years ago. was amazing.
You definitely need someone with you that speaks Portuguese. If you do, then no guide needed IMO.
we had a little medical emergency (abdominal influenza) on our trip and no one at the local hospital spoke a word of English.
I recommend renting a small truck (i.e. Amarok) with 4x4.
we stored gear in the double cabin, when leaving gear in the car overnight or unattended. this rarely happened, given we had the gear either with us on the beach or in the hotel. given everything is sandy and wet, we found the open bed much more convenient.

I am doing this again this year I am already 2 months here and I will stay until September I believe.
I am Brazilian so for me is a bit easier for sure...
Credit cards are very accepted all around
I went until barrerinhas close to atins.
Jericoacoara for example does not have ATM to cash but cards accepted.
U don need a 4x4 but it makes the trip much more enjoyable on my opinion. But u can go to the major spots just with any car.
Don't leave equipament inside the car people do break in and steal if they have the chance.
My favorite kite spots in the region
Barra grande (the mangrove)
Take a boat to delta do parnaiba very nice place and a very nice spot to kite
Tatajuba
Guriu
Prea
Ilha do guajiru
I like more flat water and strong wind

Outside you don't really have to warranty a mask (officially you do) but people dont

But supermarkets, malls, some restaurants to get to your table, buildings with elevator, bus, Uber, taxi, airport...
