Lots of islands versus one island? Sorry, I have yet to get to Tahiti so cannot compare. Maui was fun with strong NE trades in summer, but not much in the way of waves most days I was there years ago, riding at Kanaha Park, just twintip riding mostly, but that may have changed with foiling etc.

Yess Maui is the best. Lots to do. Good surf and good wind. If water flat, can wing or foil. :D

Aloha!

Cannot comment on Tahiti

Maui has good trade winds, sunshine, and turquoise water most of the year. The main spot at Kanaha offers a wide sandy white beach while an additional spot, Kihei, provides a grassy lawn. Mind you late Jan - early March is the off season unless a weather system spins up.

Most people are pretty happy to kite on Maui as its good for waves, twin tips, and foiling. (Its not really good for wakestyle)

If you do go to Tahiti, check out Teahupo'o. They have the fattest and baddest waves (watch on You Tube) that require a different style of surfing.

Hi guys. I'm new here. I will be glad to chat with you. If I were choosing between Tahiti and Maui, I would choose Maui, at least because I was there and there are other islands nearby. Why is there a choice only between these islands?
