Hi,
Since the other topic was hijacked by our beloved anti-vax community. Can we please keep this one sensible and on-topic?
Any news from South Africa? I know KLM is still flying.
How is everything on the ground in Cape Town?
Any restrictions flying back?
We are going mid Jan (From NL), curious about any recent developments.

I was supposed to go for Xmas with familly but had to cancel as there is a 10-days quarantine in Belgium when flying back. No possible professionally. We go to barbados instead
We also planned another trip to CT at the end of jan. Hope things will change
When you look at numbers they are about to reach the same peak as last winter and last summer.

I've just come back from a week in Langebaan, but since I travel domestically from Johannesburg to Cape Town I can't really comment on the international travel restrictions.
I buy last season's school kites from a shop in Langebaan when I go down there, and then sell them when I get back in Jhb.
The guy I bought my kites from had invested in new gear and sprucing up his shop for the season and then got hit by massive cancellations.
I thinks it's going to be make or break for the kite schools depending on whether the travel bans continue.

You can see my Cape Town diary thread for what I am up to. Two weeks here and plan till end of January, or longer if necessary. No issues living and kiting here, everything is open, everyone carrying on as normal, just vigilant mask usage in restaurants, stores, and public transport. I live in the US, and so far no obvious issues with returning, and by then hopefully things will have calmed down as folks realize Omicron is actually a good thing.

UK is removing South Africa and other southern African countries from their red list. But damage is done with countless cancelled trips. Simply bowing to the reality that Omicron is spreading fast there.
