Hey,
Hoping someone can give some advice regarding Dahab. Considering going there around mid June. Few questions:
* Is it busy, in particular on the lagoons?
* Is the main lagoon rideable on low tide? I've read conflicting reports that it is and it isn't
* Is it suitable for beginners? (up and riding, but not consistently upwind yet)
* Is it gusty?
* Are boat rescues unlimited outside the lagoon or do you pay per rescue / after a given number of rescues?
Any and all info appreciated

The lagoon can sometimes get busy but considering you have all day to kite you can find a time where it’s empty, I would usually go around 9-12 and was usually empty
During low tide you can definitely ride but if there are more than 8 people, which hasn’t happened to me then it’ll be crowded. There is also another spot 100m from the Lagoon where the locals ride on low tide.
I learned kiting in dahab, it’s recommended since there is always wind but be aware that the wind is gusty and will tear your body.
Don’t let your kite fall outside the lagoon, it’s egypt no one is guaranteed to come and rescue you straight away. Even the windsurfers might just look at you like an alien. With that said I often went riding in The open and it was plenty fun. Didn’t get the chance to check a rescue but I was dreading that happening. You can of course talk to the kite club there I think one of them has a boat and will take a small group out to kite outside for a fee.
Also check blue lagoon, it’s Bedouin style camping but the wind is more stable and stronger, clear water and your progression will skyrocket there as the only thing to do is kite.
Have fun, Dahab is an amazing place

Thanks very much! That's great info, sounds like a great place
Now the only thing left for us to figure out is if the June heat there will be bearable

I’ve had days with 44c. As long as you’re in the shade with a fan or wind it’s tolerated.

There is only one lagoon, and at low tide it gets quite small. It's also where the schools teach so it can be crowded at lower tides.

Thanks for the info. The second lagoon I was referring to is the Blue Lagoon. It seems some people go there for overnight stays? Was wondering if it was crowded or reasonable also.

I’ve had 42c in September but really there’s no humidity so just go in the shade you’ll be surprised how nice it is. There is another spot next to the lagoon in Dahab, you walk over the rocks east of the lagoon. (I don’t know how to get there with a car) Locals and windsurfers use that spot it’s deep water and goes out into the ocean but protected by a coral “cape” that blocks the waves. You can’t kite to the ocean from that spot because of the corals.
Blue lagoon you should go for more than a few days.

So we've booked the trip for September. Looking for one last piece of advise; do people have recommendations for companies that can plan trips to the Blue Lagoon for overnight stays? Did you get it organised by your accommodation in Dahab?
