Does anyone do it ? I know there isn't much living in the lake anymore and it's very acidic but is the water that bad for you .

Explored and kited out there in 2004.
Met a resident biologist who studies the water and is an avid windusurfer.
There is pollution in any body of water and that sea does get some runoff from the agriculture.
So it's not perfect.
But the biologist said it's not polluted or dangerous....he windsurfs in it regularly and many people swim in in regularly.
In fact, its the salinity that goes up and down that kills off millions of fish at a time.
This is why the shore beaches are literally made of crushed bone.
Very unique place.
There are some nice setups for waves and good wind.
But it's still virtually unexplored due to fear.

look out for the balled up boulders of crusty barnacles though.....you need booties as the bottom does have a lot of rough barnacles where I was.
But it's also a MASSIVE body of water and there may be better places on the sea---I wasn't able to explore much of it.

I've seen videos of swarms of flies at the shore that would keep me from investigating.

Not sure about 2004 but I have a friend who lives 1 block from the waters edge and as of 6 months ago he won’t even take his sailboat out on it any longer. Not sure why, didn’t ask.
