Core kite with different bar?

Hello,

Please advice me on flying my gts 4 with cabrinha or slingshot bar(both low V, single flag out),have any one used it? How does kite fly?

I do have new pro bar and intending on using it when kiting with friends but when out alone I would rather land with pulling upper center line, its just more convenient and hassle free.

It is super easy to self land using the core bar. Walk up the center line to the V and yank the top line to land the kite. Seems less convenient to screw around with a non-core bar with your core kite.

Core bar is great and in high winds gotta use someone, something or safety in shore break so no brainer,

Make sure to practice in lower wind or with a spotter the first couple of times you try it just to make sure you have a feel for it.

So are you saying let go of the bar while still being hooked in and go hand-over-hand up to the V?

To be fair with low V you also have to let go of the bar to grab the top front line to land the kite ... and that's the 'danger zone' (especially above 20 knots) when you're hoping it's not going to go tits up forcing you to safety. A high V extends this danger zone so that if you do have to use safety there'll be much more slack in the lines with obvious possible 'unpleasant' consequences ...

OK. With low V you first set maximum trim then fly the kite to the edge of the window with a wing tip resting on the beach (sand in my case). Then you can stretch out and grab the top front line while still holding the bar. After that you have to let go of the bar while pulling in the top line hand over hand while walking towards the kite. If it all goes right the top wing tip comes over towards you and the kite lands facing the wind. I don't like it in over 20 knots but the last couple of times I self landed my 6m Enduro V2 in 30 knots because there was noone else around it surprisingly landed just nicely. Probably just good luck to be honest, sooner or later a gust will hit and I'll have to instantly flag out to safety.

With high Y you can't do that ^^^ You have to walk up the single front line just to get to the V to be able to grab the top front line. During that time you're increasing the amount of front line slack before you get to the V which means that if things go wrong and the kite takes off again the kite will accelerate longer and be travelling faster while taking up that slack. Hope that makes sense.

Speaking from experience: some kites I used in the past are excelent and extreamlyy easy to self land: switchblade, pivot, enduro,
some are just not so happy to flip when pulling upper centre line while walking upwind: dice and I think gts4(have not tried yet) due to their shape,

Also guessing that no one flied core kites with different bars then...
