Hola. I own Dare2fly kite school and have otherwise been here for almost 7 years. The wind has been unpredictable to be honest. Storm season just ended and we had a normal amount of wind, but it has been colder than normal for February. The past two days the wind has been coming from the exact opposite direction, which is very rare. It was strong and kitable. The waves were HUGE about 4 meters and they are supposed to be even bigger today. My conclusion is there is no way to know what will happen in April. If you want to see what is "normal" for Cabarete, you can check out this post that I made that includes a chart for average days of wind per month:

Feel free to hit me up if you think I can help you with any other info.

Just got some pictures from Cabarete. Jesus. That is some bad weather.
Seems to be a bit of a hit and miss place these days unfortunately (at least during winter).

I just got back from Cabarete on Saturday.
Out of 10 day stay it was one decent/consistent 15-20kts day, 2 sort of ridable on TT days, a couple of ~9-10kts foiling days...
The rest was rainy and unpredictable - if you rig fast you get 10-15minutes of riding in highly questionable conditions while storm clouds are passing by..
it was raining almost every day and the rain seems to screw up the thermals big time.
I have had better luck during my previous stays.. like 3 years ago I got ~25 good days out of 30 around the same time.
I don't think April is a good month there statistically, but this year - who knows...

I was there Feb 10-23. Rain squalls 3-4 times a day, wind from zero to 25 knots, up and down with squalls. 2 stable days.
Rig all kites, pick one, go out, wind changes, go in for new kite, wind changes. Repeat.
I figured it out and avoided swimming, but I've never seen so many people getting towed in or swimming in.
It was mega choppy in the Bay, waves from 2 directions and current /chop from a third.
I liked the vibe and our hotel and the spot. Wind and water state basically sucked

I went several years in a row and found March to be a good month. Dec - Feb not good, with a lot of rain and no wind.
While March was good, and of course summer is amazing.
Don’t know about April and May though.

What about renting gear in cabarette? More specific a surfboard. (Traveling only with 2 kites)
Any idea of costs?

Quite a few places that I´m guessing are renting out. An example:
https://laureleastman.com/services/rentals/
That is probably one of the more expensive places.
