Mike(sLab) started using peal ply as a non stick pad on his boards and others including Brian Camet (Camet Boards) have also perfected the process. Its totally flat yet a perfect surface with adhesion. Peal Ply becomes the deck pad "stuck" to the deck of the board.

My guess is they put down a layer of coating resin, put on the peel ply and tear it off as usual, leaving the peel ply surface.
Personally, I have heel problems on hard surfaces, so like the pads.
