I'm not a fan of any raised deck pad.
Mike(sLab) started using peal ply to create a abrasive surface on top of the carbon/epoxy. Others including Brian Camet (Camet Boards) have also perfected the process. Its totally flat yet a perfect surface with adhesion.

Working on building a hydrofoil at the moment and always liked the sandy grip tape type deck over pads. Temavento always had perfect grip on their decks. Does anyone know what material they were using or similar?
I have some clear grip (non-sand) if you’re interested. Paid $20 for it. Will sell if you want it.
Check out how it looks on my board

I'm not a fan of any raised deck pad.
Mike(sLab) started using peal ply as a non stick pad on his boards and others including Brian Camet (Camet Boards) have also perfected the process. Its totally flat yet a perfect surface with adhesion. Peal Ply becomes the deck pad "stuck" to the deck of the board.
You're saying the peel ply is still on the board? That doesn't sound right.
My guess is they put down a layer of coating resin, put on the peel ply and tear it off as usual, leaving the peel ply surface.
Personally, I have heel problems on hard surfaces, so like the pads.
Hexa-grip looks cool, but it's pretty expensive!

Not sure what "hexa grip" is ?
But if it is the Hexa grip RSPro, I have been using it for almost a year.
Not as non-slip as a pad no, but it works brilliant and is not that expensive IMO.
One can always get a few more pads, and change just where it gets worn, which is always at the front feet for some reason - just like on surfboards
It is totally transparent and weighs almost nothing, so can make your board appear cool if it got graphics - only at a specific angle one can see the pads, like here on mine:

My bad. Different peal ply's with different textures, and when you peal it off after curing it leaves an awesome texture in the epoxy.
I'm the opposite, pads generate cramps in my arches.
