It is clearly a propaganda piece, lots of false reason and cause. Trade war will only work if turned into sanctions, which will lead to war. China trade with America may be small in $ but it's big in output. Rest of the world is not going to magically start trading more with America if trade between China and America reduces. Trade between China and other countries will increase to compensate. Trump is not smart, the North Korea thing will end with him losing face. North Korea ain't going to give up nukes. They are the smartest race on the planet. Any nation that gives up nukes gets meddled with by America, leaders killed etc at best or invaded at worst. There is a very real risk Trump will start WW3 because he is angry with King Jong at 2am. And we have to thank for all this the Democratic leadership, that instead of the same old centrist rubbish could have given use real change and future.

this is all about politics...nothing to do with kiting.

Keep it kiting or it will be closed.
Hi,

if this gets out of control an it looks like it will, kiting will be our smallest problem in the future.
If censorship is the right way, you have to decide.

Unfortunatly history repeats itself and the politic is still not able to review the past.

Exactly.

This is not the first time American foreign politics will have a major effect on kiting.
Remember the Vietnam war, or the Korean war, when nobody in the entire world could kite for years after?

The kite supply chain (i.e. manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, etc.) will use any reason whatsoever to increase their prices, including trade wars, even if the effect is nil or marginal. They will take advantage of every situation. It's greed, pure and simple. But there are repercussions because the kite community can see through that veil of greed.

Yeah, those days were the pits. No kites, no boards, no nothin'. Accessing KiteForum took days. Heck, I couldn't even find apps for my iPhone back then.

I think China will blink but if they don't the trade war is guaranteed. US is not bluffing. Think of what Trump was doing since day one - pumping the stock market via twitter  so kidding aside the stock market will be the biggest victim. But if you pumped it with a lot of hot air what's worst that can happen, the hot air will come out and all those major network's financial wizards who oppose trade war for obvious reasons will be like yeah, only hot air came off which is really positive news, in retrospect, so now is the best time to buy etc...usual BS

Is one of our US forum members already stocking kites in his/her garage? Or setting up a US kitefactory? The latter seems like the right thing to do. This is only the first term of Trump. Still years to come to benefit from this administration with a made in the US kite factory.. Some regions with unemployment also...

More likely big money to be made reexporting goods through another country and fraudulently changing it as the country of origin so to defeat tariff. Most likely part of Trump&friends strategy to make themselves richer. Very easy to play stocks when your tweets command the whole market.
