Thumbs up means launch, tap the head means land, but what is the international signal for abort the launch, something is wrong?
Thumbs down? I dunno.

I let the bar go, walk few steps to release pressure on the front lines and cross the hands couple of times.

Good ones guys. Drop the bar and walk towards the helper, it's an unmistakable signal. Don't ask me why I couldn't think of this myself.

easy: tap the head
and since you should have one hand on the Quick Release at launch and landing, immediately activate it with the other hand and walk towards your kite. Safe as can be.

Well, I rather see a rider in the bushes downwind than kite rolling through beachgoers and catching on everything else. Kind of better to have one Jean-Claude out of commission than having him injuring someone or ruining the spot/property for everyone else and still being dragged on the beach...
I love to have a person launching who besides taking signals from a pilot would also consider probability of successful launch for given position/conditions and will keep an eye if lines are not crossed or caught onto something. How often you signal the rider "dude stop going upwind"
What I mean that in condition when you need to abort launch the QR is not the safest action probably.
What I don't know how to signal is to have rider stop pulling on the damn bar so much at launch
Happens occasionally...

True, better to go with a fully powered kite thru people and cut their heads off.
Of course, having a leash attached to the Kiter is a must, so the kite does not fly away.

Thumbs down, slack lines. Also important works for launcher e.g. if they find a wrapped bridle.

Around here people use thumbs up off to the side so you can see it for launch and hand across the throat to say kill it, no good, put it down. But dropping the bar and walking towards the kite seems good enough. Takes two seconds to talk to the other person to just pick one and make sure the other person knows and agrees.
